For nearly a generation the worlds leaders have been making speeches declaring action on climate change that are also intended to reassure us that “all is okay”.
The “Shipping Forecast” is a long-running radio summary of the marine conditions for the seas surrounding the British Isles. The abbreviated locations and coded weather indicators are meaningless to most listeners but combine with the rhythm and tone of the 10 minute broadcast in a poetic way that suggests that “all is okay”, even though it may not be.
